IT asset disposal · WEEE-compliant

Retire devices the right way: secure, certified, zero to landfill.

Cell Tech handles end-of-life IT for businesses, schools, councils and consumers across the North West. Audited data destruction, refurbishment where it's still useful, responsible recycling for the rest — with the paper trail your procurement and IT teams need.

ADISA-certified erasure · NIST 800-88 sanitisation · GSMA & FCS approved · UK GDPR + EU NIS 2018 · WEEE chain of custody · ICO registered · Fully insured in transit

Secure

Every device wiped using ADISA-certified erasure tooling, implementing the NIST SP 800-88 sanitisation standard. Drives that can't be wiped are physically shredded on request. Each asset gets a unique reference and a full chain-of-custody record — from collection through to certificate.

Sustainable

Nothing usable goes to scrap and nothing at all goes to landfill. Working devices are refurbished and given a second life, often back into the local market. Whatever can't be reused goes through our licensed WEEE partner for proper recovery of metals, glass and plastics.

Compliant

Built for the paper trail. You get an itemised asset register, certificates of data destruction, and the documentation finance and audit teams expect. Operating to ADISA-certified erasure, NIST 800-88 sanitisation, UK GDPR, EU NIS 2018 and the WEEE Regulations — independently audited, not just self-declared.

Standards & accreditations

Independent certification, not just claims

Our data destruction is performed using tooling that's been independently audited and certified to the standards procurement, IT and audit teams actually ask about. The list below covers both the data side and the wider ITAD process end-to-end.

  • ADISA Certified

The independent industry accreditation for IT Asset Disposal and data erasure. The benchmark most UK procurement teams look for first.

  • NIST SP 800-88

U.S. National Institute of Standards & Technology guidance for media sanitisation — the most widely referenced erasure standard globally.

  • R2v3

SERI's global certification framework for the ITAD industry, covering environmental, security and chain-of-custody requirements.

  • GSMA Approved

Global System for Mobile Communications Association — mobile-industry-approved handling for phones, tablets and connected devices.

  • FCS Member

UK Federation of Communication Services — the trade body for professional communications and IT services in Britain.

  • ISO 9000 QMS

Quality management standards covering process consistency, traceability and continual improvement across the asset disposal workflow.

  • UK GDPR & DPA 2018

End-to-end compliant with UK data protection law — from collection consent through to destruction certificate.

  • EU NIS 2018

European Network & Information Systems directive — cyber-security standards for handling critical infrastructure equipment.

All certifications can be verified on request. Schedule of certificates available for procurement teams.

How it works

Six steps from collection to certificate

Whether it's twenty laptops out of a school refresh or a single dead phone in a drawer, the process is the same — just scaled to what you've got.

  1. 1

    Tell us what you've got

Rough device count, types, your postcode. A quick form or a phone call is enough — no detailed inventory needed at this stage.

  2. 2

    Quote & collection slot

Same-day response with a quote and a collection window that suits you. Smaller jobs can drop in to our workshop in Stockton Heath.

  3. 3

    Secure collection

We collect using our own insured vehicle, sealed transit bags for high-risk items, and a signed manifest at handover. Tracked door to door.

  4. 4

    Audit & asset capture

Every device is logged, photographed and tagged with a unique reference. You get the full inventory list in your asset report.

  5. 5

    Data destruction

Drives and storage media are wiped to certified standards. Physical shredding available for anything where wipe isn't enough — finance servers, regulated data, classified work.

  6. 6

    Refurb, recycle, report

Reusable devices are refurbished and resold. Everything else goes through our licensed WEEE recycler. You get certificates of destruction and an asset disposition report — typically within 10 working days of collection.

0%

to landfill. Ever.

Every device we collect is accounted for, processed, and either refurbished into a new owner's hands or recycled into raw materials. We will not — and contractually cannot — send any of it to landfill.

Common questions

What people usually want to know

What actually happens to the data on my devices?

Anything with storage is wiped using ADISA-certified erasure tooling implementing the NIST SP 800-88 sanitisation standard — that's the framework U.S. federal agencies and most UK enterprise procurement teams require. If the drive can't be wiped reliably (failed, encrypted with a lost key, regulated data) it's physically shredded on request, and you get a serial-level destruction certificate. Nothing ever leaves with recoverable data. The process is also GSMA-approved for mobile devices and operates under UK GDPR and the EU NIS 2018 cyber-security framework.

How much does it cost?

It depends on what you've got and where it is. For most B2B collections we quote a fixed fee based on volume and access. Smaller loads dropped into the workshop are free. Consumer drop-off is always free and you get £10 off a future repair.

How quickly can you collect?

For a postcode within an hour of Warrington we can usually collect within 48 hours, often the same week. For larger or multi-site jobs we book a window that suits your IT or facilities team.

Do I get paperwork?

Yes — a signed manifest at collection, a full asset register with serial numbers, certificates of data destruction per device or per batch (your call), and a final disposition report showing what was refurbished versus recycled. Built to satisfy ICO, ISO and audit committee questions.

What about devices that are damaged or won't turn on?

Fine — we take them. We have the parts and the equipment to access storage on damaged devices when that's needed for secure wipe. Everything else still goes through the same WEEE recycling stream.

Are you insured?

Yes — devices are insured from collection through to processing, and we carry data-handling liability cover. We can share the insurance schedule with your procurement team on request.

Where do you operate?

Primary collection area is Warrington, Cheshire, Manchester, Liverpool and the broader North West. Further afield is possible for larger loads — get in touch.

Ready to clear it out?

Get a quote, book a collection, or just drop in. Whatever scale you're at, the process is the same — secure, certified, zero to landfill.
