With Apple unveiling the brand-new Mac Pro, we thought we’d delve a little deeper and see what all the hype is about!
Regardless of whether you are an Apple lover (the brand, not the fruit) or an Apple hater, you can’t deny that they produce some pretty sleek stuff. In recent years, their innovative designs have really rocked the tech industry. And this month they have launched another impressive product update: The new Mac Pro.
Now, this is quite a specialist product aimed at creative professionals who need a serious amount of processing power. But, as usual, Apple haven’t disappointed. The new Mac Pro offers some pretty
insane spec options.
Imagine a task … any task.
The basic version of the new Mac Pro boasts an 8-core Intel Xeon processor, Radeon Pro 580X graphics processor and 32GB of RAM. But that’s just the start. There will be several build-to-order options and configurations, which go up to a 28-core Intel Xeon processor, Radeon Pro Vega II Duo graphics processor and 1.5TB of RAM. In plain English, this means you’re unlikely to have any task
that the new Mac Pro can’t handle.
It probably won’t surprise you that this gladiator of a computer comes with a hefty price tag. The base model starts at around £4,730, and there are whispers that the higher spec models could be around the £35,000 mark.
Apple also unveiled a new 32-inch edge-to-edge Pro Display XDR for use with the Mac Pro, which would set you back around another £800. Then there is the stand for the display which, in true Apple style, they will sell separately for around £800 (Yes, you did read that right, £800!).
It’s all about the data.
Now, these prices might sound ludicrous, but this is a specialist piece of kit, and probably isn’t on the shopping list for people who send a few emails and watch the occasional cat video (let’s not pretend, we all do it).
It does make you think though, about how much we now rely on our computers and our mobiles. Most of us may not use them to create blockbuster movies, but they still hold our treasured data. Even if that data just has huge sentimental value. Imagine, horror of horrors, that you lost some, or all, of that data.
If you’ve lost it, we can help you find it again.
Once you’ve stopped hyperventilating, you’ll be glad to know that Cell Tech offer data retrieval and forensic services as well as repairing damaged screens, solving software issues and replacing faulty batteries. So if the worst does happen, then all you need to do is get in touch.
And don’t forget, if you are tight on time, our expert technicians can come to you as part of our emergency call out service.
